Hami melon
Hami melon is mainly produced in the Turpan Basin (collectively known as Hami Basin and Turpan Basin). It has different shapes, unique flavor, plump flesh, crisp and refreshing. Hami melon is rich in nutrients, with a sugar content of up to 21%. The cantaloupe from Hami became a tribute variety during the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, it was named Hami Melon after being offered as a tribute by the Hami King and rewarded by Kangxi. When Hami melons were offered as tribute in previous years, they were not abundant in Hami, and those who were offered as tribute really came out of Hami. Tracing back to its roots, Hami melon originated in the Shanshan County area of Turpan.
